Micro-segmentation and endpoint security
Christopher Scott, director of security innovation and remediation for IBM discusses how remote work has elevated the interest in micro-segmentation. He says that with the world becoming more remote and moving out of the office, we’ve almost created a physical micro-segmentation of our endpoints, because they’re not all sitting within the same network. Now, leaders need to consider how that changes the threat landscape and risks.
He elaborates that as technologies change – for example with 5G and IoT – IT teams will have to re-evaluate how they conduct risk analyze and find the right tools that can expand to include more compute capabilities.
Scott touches on workforce strategies, saying that organizations should seek out more diverse thinkers. What you lean in college, and what you learn through certification programs is important is just as important as problem solving and collaboration skill sets.
