Identity security and dual authorization

Dan Sanden, global product manager at Veritas says that he is seeing an uptick in RFP’s so that agencies can support ransomware resiliency with data backup and recovery. There is a great deal of interest among leaders around data protection, Sanden says.

As part of that trend, identity and access management is taking on greater importance — including multi factor authentication and dual authorization technologies.

For instance, if there is a secure, or a highly sensitive operation in the backup environment, agencies want to verify there are two users that are approving a certain policy setup, or maybe a deletion request. It’s to make sure that if one account is compromised, the agency is getting dual authorization of those more sensitive criteria. That’s something that’s brand new to hear customers ask for, says Sanden.
