A New Jersey CISO discusses network visibility

Sajed Naseem, CISO for New Jersey Courts says that when the court when remote in March 2020 — due to the COVID-19 pandemic — IT officials needed to reevaluate security risk against the network and devices connecting from employees’ homes. The threat landscape, networking and security landscape changed, he said.

There was an increase in ransomware attacks and reports of hackers targeting victims using social engineering tactics. As a security person, Naseem said, you cannot protect something you can’t see.

The New Jersey Court took steps to gain better visibility across their network and devices, as well as update policies of those devices in use.
