Navy’s Anne Marie Schumann on matching cyber talent to mission needs
Anne Marie Schumann, Principal Cyber Advisor for the Department of the Navy, discussed the challenges of achieving a unified zero-trust architecture across ship and shore environments to avoid sailors needing to learn separate sets of tools. She emphasized the importance of automating dull, repetitive tasks with AI-enabled cybersecurity tools, enabling sailors to focus on complex problems. Schumann also highlighted the Navy’s efforts to address the growing cyber workforce gap through the revised cyber force generation model, Cybercom 2.0, which focuses on targeted talent acquisition and matching cyber professionals to specific missions to address skills shortages.
