Green, R-Tenn., has championed legislation on the cyber workforce, renewal of a cyber threat information sharing bill and more.

The nominee, who doesn’t have as much cyber experience as his predecessors, also touted his credentials and views on current threats during his Senate confirmation hearing.

Both witnesses and lawmakers at a House hearing said the law must not lapse in September.

The law is due to lapse in September, something cyber experts and industry officials say would be a huge loss.

Reps. Andrew Garbarino and Eric Swalwell said legislative priorities include an expiring information-sharing law and making a threat information-sharing organization permanent.

Lawmakers also need to take action on legislation to better harmonize federal cybersecurity regulations, Democrats’ staff director on a key Senate committee said.

The groups told lawmakers that both the committee and the law provide vital protections for cyber threat information swapping.
