Casey is a seasoned veteran of cybersecurity operations, specializing in malware analysis, digital forensics, incident response, and cyber threat intelligence. In his current role at Microsoft, Casey supports the US Federal Government as an incident response and threat hunting specialist to help combat our nation’s most advanced and persistent cyber threats. In this capacity he is on the front lines of problem solving for our nation’s most complex cybersecurity challenges.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Casey served for more than 10 years in incident response operations with the Department of Homeland Security for US-CERT / ICS-CERT and CISA, as it is known today. During his tenure there, he held numerous roles, including chief of network forensics, chief of industrial control systems incident response, and finally branch chief of cyber threat intelligence.Casey also has more than 8 years of experience in academia, having served as a professor of digital forensics and an adjunct professor of digital forensics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He holds a bachelor’s degree in digital forensic science from Defiance College (Ohio) and a master’s degree in digital forensic science from Champlain College (Vermont).
Additionally, he holds industry recognized certifications from GIAC in cloud-based forensics and incident response (GCFR), digital forensics (GCFA), incident response (GCIH), malware analysis (GREM), and industrial control systems security and incident response (GRID).
