Track B-1: Leveraging CDM DEFEND to Modernize & Fortify Cybersecurity

The Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) is in its sixth year in operation and has evolved over the years to offer government agencies more flexibility in acquiring security tools. Over the years, every civilian agency's approach to CDM is different and there have been many important lessons learned, challenges navigated and unique tactics deployed.

This interactive panel will allow attendees to hear directly from agency leaders on their approach to CDM, lessons learned and best practices for other agencies as they design (or redesign) their CDM approach.

Willie Crenshaw, Program Executive, CDM & Risk Management, OCIO, NASA
Moderator: Eric Trexler, VP, Global Governments & Infrastructure Sales, Forcepoint
Track C-1: Building Digital Transformation from the Network Up

Throughout the federal government agencies are being directed to make digital transformation a priority. As a result, initiatives like cloud and mobility are disrupting networks and compromising security. Modernizing networks for this cloud era is important for agencies to achieve additional savings, security and to deliver faster services. Technologies like SD-WAN promise to give agencies more flexibility to support digital transformation efforts while reducing MPLS costs, IT complexity and compliance risk—but have traditionally been difficult to implement while remaining in compliance with federal guidelines. Updates to the Trusted Internet Connections (TIC) are pending that are intended to provide agencies with increased flexibility to use modern security capabilities and to enhance network security across the Federal Government.

Join Mark Bunn, Program Manager for the TIC program at DHS; Dorothy Aronson, CIO at NSF; Nicolas Chaillan, Special Advisor for Cloud & DevSecOps at the DOD; and Dr. Richard Ford, Chief Scientist at Forcepoint, for a discussion of how federal networks must change to support modernization efforts and for updates about the future of the TIC program.
